Pay rate: $12.5 per hour
Work load: 10~20 hours per week (negotiable)
Duration: 15 weeks (around late August to early December 2014 time frame, but negotiable) and may be extended depending on future funding.
1. Candidates must be US citizens or permanent residents.
2. GPA: 3.0 and above.
3. Junior or senior students who have taken ECE 351 Digital Systems Design ECE 455 Embedded Systems Design are highly preferred, but strong performing sophomores will be considered as well.
4. Background in electric power is helpful but not required.
The objective is to leverage new FPGA computing and communications technology offered by the National Instruments (NI) platform to make a quantum change in power transmission system modeling and analysis techniques and tools. Both hardware and software tools will be developed to evaluate performance gains. The outcome will set the stage for real-time and faster than real-time power system computing capability both in planning and operations.
