Clinton Utilities Board (CUB) provides electric service to approximately 30,000 customers in Anderson County and parts of five surrounding counties in East Tennessee. CUB, widely recognized throughout the seven state TVA region as a leader in the use of cutting-edge technologies, seeks one (1) or more highly motivated individuals to join our innovative team. This position performs all types of work relative to the engineering of overhead and underground distribution lines serving residential, commercial, and industrial customers, including extensive coordination with customers and various other departments of the Board to ensure electric service is provided as efficiently and professionally as practicable. Responsibilities: Responsible for performing highly technical work in a prompt, professional and accurate fashion.  Responsible for acquiring a complete working knowledge of Board policies and procedures regarding the daily functions and activities of the Electrical Engineering Department. Responsible for performing neat, efficient, and highly precise work which, if executed incorrectly, could result in possible increased legal liabilities for the Board, significant financial losses, damage to the Board’s electric system and potentially endanger the safety of field personnel and the public. Responsible for presenting a positive image of the Board and a caring attitude toward our customers.

Required Qualifications

BS degree in electrical engineering from an accredited four-year college or university with an emphasis in power systems. Applicants who will be graduating in the spring semester of 2018 will be considered. Must have (or be able to obtain within six (6) months) an Engineering Intern Certification and possess superior analytical skills together with strong written and oral communication techniques.  Candidates must be accomplished in basic computer skills and common software applications.  Previous experience in the electric utility industry will be considered a plus. Must have and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license.

In addition to the required entry level education and skills listed above, CUB will also consider an individual with a well-rounded professional background in the electric utility industry for a more advanced starting position. Qualifications that will lead to a more advanced starting position are progressive experience within the power distribution industry, a Professional Engineering license in the State of TN, and proven experience managing multiple projects concurrently. Experience within any of the following areas will be also be considered a plus: SCADA, AMI, AutoCAD, GIS, system modeling and analysis, electric substations, metering, relay and protective device coordination and programming, fiber optics and communications, computer networking and databases.
