1st Major Area of Responsibility – Lead quality improvement projects (Key Duties)

  • Under direct supervision, performs semi-complex work utilizing established methods and techniques; follows procedures within framework of applied technology. Authority within established precedents or well defined policy with regular managerial direction and review
  • Design and develop a well written project outline that includes experimental objectives, time required, needed resources and project constraints.
  • Collect data from these trials using six sigma tools to interpret results, formulate conclusions and recommendations for improvements based on statistical analysis.
  • Accountable for on time delivery of all assigned projects and related documentation.
2nd Major Area of Responsibility – Work with plant personnel and others to troubleshoot problems (Key Duties)

  • Formulates, applies, and supervises complex and involved methods requiring highly accurate analysis, evaluation and appraisal on a professional plane.
  • Adherence to standards and polices
  • Food Safety and Quality issues
  • Processing equipment problems
  • Other items which directly or indirectly affect the quality, food safety or trademark of products and processes. 

3rd Major Area of Responsibility – Assist in the development of procedures and processes which ensure continued improvement to product quality (Key Duties)

  • Minimal responsibility for equipment damage and/or some customer dissatisfaction.
  • Internal contacts with other departments on somewhat controversial or technical matters.
  • Membership on cross functional teams with other departments including Research and Development, Operations, Sales and Marketing
  • Assist other departments in understanding and implementing corporate quality objectives.
  • Keep up to date on all developing technologies and items related to quality improvement, quality management and quality systems. 4th Area of Responsibility – Review Current Scientific and Industry Literature and All other duties and responsibilities as requested or required
  • Read current technical, trade and scientific journals, and attend vendor seminars on new equipment and methods.
  • Review new methods and equipment and advise said items for application to meet research and testing needs.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required

Required Qualifications:


  • A Bachelor of Science Degree or University level course work OR equivalent education and experience
  • Project Management training.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma tools Experience
  • 5 years experience in the dairy industry working with processing equipment and quality related systems.
  • A working knowledge of laboratory testing and procedures in relation to dairy and food products.

Job Skills Requirements

  • Six Sigma (Green Belt) Quality Process Experience (Green Belt) Experience with DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) Methodologies.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good analytical and math skills
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Good computer skills in MS Office Suite
  • Must have a working knowledge of grade "A" standards and good manufacturing practices; must possess a working knowledge of all laboratory testing involving milk, cheese and whey.
  • Ability to manage multiple pursuits simultaneously; define and maintain focus on department objectives balanced with project and other department needs
