We have two entry level positions open that requires background in power electronics, motors etc. Masters will be preferred but we will also consider someone with Bachelor’s degree with appropriate course work.

The company will also consider visa sponsorship. Summer 2018 graduates can also apply.

General Role Description

Define project system requirements and develop system specifications for Industrial Systems projects

Role Accountabilities

  • Prepare technical specifications for electrical and electro-mechanical power conversion equipment that meets applicable global and local standards, as assigned
  • Prepare technical specifications for sensors and automation equipment suppliers as assigned
  • Conduct power system studies to ensure that the existing or proposed system is adequate to meet requirements of new equipment while meeting applicable global and local utility standards, as assigned
  • Evaluate supplier proposals to determine the best technical and most cost effective solution for the application
  • Ensure “as shipped” systems meet all client requirements as defined in the project contract, including system specifications and performance guarantees, while achieving business goals and objectives
  • Manage equipment costs, recommending cost reductions when feasible
  • Prepare purchase specification and ERP requisition in a timely manner to support the project schedule
  • Provide technical and costing information for the preparation of technical proposals, using client specifications and knowledge of Company solutions, as assigned
  • Prepare and deliver presentations at technical conferences and client meetings at client sites or other locations as specified or necessary
  • Troubleshoot AC and DC variable frequency drives, motors, harmonic filters, and power system issues
  • Collect data and/or troubleshoot issues with power conversion equipment at client sites, including on container cranes, as required
  • Identify and recommend new applications and/or new products to drive business growth opportunities and new markets
  • Provide project management services as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering or equivalent via education and/or work experience.
  • Classes, labs and projects with concentration in some combination of power electronics, electrical machines, electrical and electro-mechanical power conversion and power system analysis
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated success as contributing member in project team
  • Demonstrated successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external contacts
  • Demonstrated successful and positive personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement in areas of responsibility
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Ability and availability to climb and work on container cranes, occasionally, and for limited periods of time
  • Availability to travel, domestically and internationally, approximately 15%, occasionally with limited notice

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of science in electrical engineering
  • 2 years’ related work experience in specifying, designing, commissioning, and/or maintaining industrial drive, automation, and control systems for complex coordinated industrial system applications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of low and/or medium voltage DC and AC Variable Frequency Drives application to coordinated industrial systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and experience in the following:
    • metal rolling and processing automation and process control;
    • automated crane systems;
    • motors and drives design and applications for the metals or crane system industries;
    • industrial power system design and analysis including load flow, short circuit, coordination, harmonics, and power quality;
    • global industrial drive and automation industry standards
  • Research project or thesis in the area of some combination of power electronics, electrical machines, electrical and electro-mechanical power conversion and power system analysis
  • Work experience as Research Assistant, intern, or co-op in the above areas
  • Experience in a global company
