Assistant Professor Position

The Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level for Fall 2018. Applicants seeking other faculty position levels will not be considered. Energetic, highly motivated researchers/teachers seeking challenging and fulfilling academic careers are sought to aid in the University of Arkansas’s quest for excellence. Priority will be given to those with specialization in the following areas: 1) analog, mixed-signal and power integrated circuit design, in particular ICs based on wide bandgap materials such as GaN and SiC, with an interest in power electronics applications such as power-supply-on-chip or power-supply-in-package; and 2) power packaging such as wide bandgap device and module packaging involving electrical and thermal design, implementation, additive manufacturing and reliability evaluation.

Applicants shall have a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering. The selected applicant is expected to teach undergraduate courses in electrical engineering as well as core and elective courses related to her/his specialization, to advise undergraduate students academically, to establish a research program with external funding, and to participate in service committees. Startup funds will be provided to aid the successful applicant in establishing a competitive research program.

The Department of Electrical Engineering is home to the National Center for Reliable Electric Power Transmission (, the NSF-sponsored Center for Grid-connected Advanced Power Electronic Systems ( and the DOE Cybersecurity Center for Secure, Evolvable Energy Delivery Systems ( The University of Arkansas is also part of the NSF-sponsored Engineering Research Center for Power Optimization of Electro-Thermal Systems (  The Electrical Engineering Department is one of eight departments in the College of Engineering at the University of Arkansas. The department provides the education necessary for Electrical Engineers at all degree levels.  The diverse faculty and staff of the department play an integral role in this education experience.
