Assistant Professor of Computer Science, Piedmont College

Founded in 1897, Piedmont College is a private, comprehensive liberal arts college with an enrollment of approximately 2,500 students at campuses in Demorest and Athens, Georgia.

Piedmont College located in Demorest and Athens, Georgia, is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Professor of Computer Science to begin on August 1, 2020. This is a full time, 9-month, non-tenure track position with teaching responsibilities on both campuses.

Summary Description

The Piedmont College of Arts and Sciences is seeking a qualified individual to serve as full-time Faculty for our Computer Science Program and provide:

  • Effective classroom teaching and interacting with students in a professional manner
  • Accurate and secure records of student grades, attendance, and advisement
  • High standards of professionalism in the content, objectives, teaching, and grading of all courses
  • Accurate course syllabi to the School of Arts and Sciences each semester
  • An understanding of college policies and the curriculum and degree requirements of the programs in their field
  • Participation in departmental, school, and college faculty meetings and service on committees as appropriate
  • Contribution to the ongoing operation of their respective department and school
  • Assessment of their job performance including teaching effectiveness, advisement, scholarship and service via an annual self-evaluation in accordance with official college procedure
  • Assurance of their availability to students, faculty, staff, and administrators by posting and keeping at least ten office hours per week; and
  • A professional level of scholarship by continuous study, research, and attendance and participation at professional meetings. These activities are supported by the college through departmental travel funds and the faculty development program

Required

Terminal degree in Computer Science or a related field

Preferred

Prior teaching experience in a college/university environment highly preferred.
