The Dr. David W. Straight Computer Science Scholarship
For more than thirty years, Dr. David W. Straight has been the first point of contact for most UT Computer Science graduate students; coordinating research and teaching assignments and encouraging professional development. Through his classes, Dr. Straight has also impacted the academic lives of undergraduates in a profound way.
When Dr. Straight announced his retirement earlier this year, both his former students and colleagues initiated this scholarship to honor his tremendous influence and to thank him for his exemplary service, as well as congratulate him.
The Dr. David W. Straight Computer Science Scholarship will be awarded to a Computer Science major at the junior or senior level based on academic excellence and professional promise. We seek donations to reach an endowment goal of $25,000 that would allow an annual award in perpetuity.
To join this effort, please make your check payable to The UT Foundation, and identify your contribution as for the Straight Endowment and send to:
Joan Snoderly, Business Manager
Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science

For information about making a longer term pledge or if you prefer to make a credit card gift please call the College of Engineering Development Office at 865-974-2779.
An endowment will provide a legacy to honor Dr. Straight and the investment he has made in so many students’ lives.
