Oak Ridge National Laboratory Tour


Attendees of MWSCAS have the opportunity to tour two of the facilities at Oak Ridge National Laboratory on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 13, from 1:30 p.m. until 5 p.m.

Transportation limits this tour to the first 80 participants who register by Tuesday, July 29.

The Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) is an accelerator-based neutron source in Oak Ridge and has been called ‘the world’s largest microscope.’ When at full power, this one-of-a-kind facility will provide the most intense pulsed neutron beams in the world for scientific research and industrial development.

The Center for Nanophase Materials Sciences (CNMS) is a DOE sponsored nanoscience user facility for interdisciplinary research. Their research capabilities provide a broad community of scientists, engineers, and students from throughout the nation with ready access to the full range of tools and collaborative capabilities needed for nanoscale research, in a single location.
