Department Description
The Integrated Knowledge Management Solutions Department, 6324, is responsible for delivering knowledge management systems for our customers who work in complex domains to aid them in making informed decisions. We provide our customers with the ability to access resources, and to integrate the data and knowledge necessary to support timely and accurate decisions. We work in close partnership with the other System Engineering and Analysis (SEA) departments (6321, 6322, 6323, 6325, 6326, 6327) which collectively form the SEA Group. Our work supports customers in many domains including the NWSMU, IES, and the
Department of Homeland Security. Our goal is to provide solutions that have a positive lasting impact on the way our customers perform their jobs.

Current development efforts in the SEA Group are based on open architectures using web and Windows-based GUIs, client-side and server-side Java, object oriented architectures, distributed architectures, networking, relational databases, geographical information systems, Java, C, and C++ programming languages, running in windows and UNIX operating environments as well as modeling and simulation. We work as partners with our customers to become conversant in their domains to provide optimal solutions to solve their needs.

Job Description
A position exists for an experienced, motivated Computer Software Engineer to join the Systems Engineering and Analysis (SEA) group at Sandia National Laboratories. The position will be to lead a team developing software in support of collaboration and knowledge management systems. The successful candidate will have strong OLAP cube experience and be capable of delivering innovative solutions using OLAP. Current software development activities use Java, JBoss, XML, object oriented design, SQL Server, Oracle, web-based application development, with a particular focus on object-oriented design, object-relational mapping, user fieldwork and database design. The successful candidate will also have broad analytical skills as well as the ability to define architectures for systems from small to large. The domain for this work is not always clearly defined, thus the need for broad abstract thinking. The foundation of our software process is the development of an in-depth understanding of our customers' domains so that our software meets their real needs.

The successful candidate must have:
- Proven software development and software design skills
- Leadership skills, and a strong technical background
- Excellent teaming and customer relation skills

REQUIRED:
Motivated, self-learner with:
- A Master's degree in computer science or equivalent experience
- OLAP (Online Analytical Processing) Cube technology Experience
- Strong Database design skills
- Project Leadership Experience
- Microsoft SQL Server Database design experience
- Strong Requirements development and analysis skills, and experience gathering and assimilating customer requirements
- Excellent verbal and writing skills with a demonstrated ability to document technical material
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills
- Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to interact with a variety of customers and adapt to changing requirements
- Strong Java, Object Oriented Design, SQL, and web-based application development experience

DESIRED:
- Portal Development Experience
- Oracle database experience
- Microsoft Analysis Services Skills
- Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services
